Covid-19 Policy

At Eli Pasquale Basketball and Soccertron we have always taken great pride in providing a safe and welcoming environment for our campers. That dedication is no different this year but obviously there have been a lot of changes in the world around us. To reflect that we have attached our Covid-19 policy. These are the steps we take at camp to ensure you can feel confident that your child is receiving the best possible environment to safely enjoy some much needed sport activity.

Social Distancing Measures

  • We have reduced the maximum number of participants this year at all locations. As every location has a different amount of space feel free to inquire via your local rec centre what the maximum has been set to for your desired camp.
  • Daily Check-in has been marked with 6 foot markers for caregivers to safely wait to drop off their child
  • Scrimmages and other contact games have been removed. This has been replaced with a focus on skill development and fun games that allow for safe distancing.
  • Caregivers must wait outside the facility to retrieve their child at end of day and cannot stay throughout. This ensures numbers remain within a safe range for every child present.
  • If a child has an injury or a problem that requires a staff member to come inside 6 feet, that staff member must first sanitize their hands and apply a mask and gloves before attending to the child.

General Rules for Campers

Here is a list of the rules your child will be taught on the first day of camp. It is important this year that we all pay attention and children should be reminded by their caregiver of the importance of following the rules and listening to Staff members.

  1. Keep that social distance
    • Whenever possible we want to maintain 6 feet between all participants at camp. If our staff ever must cross that threshold they are instructed to put on a mask and gloves. For younger children we understand that sometimes this can be challenging to enforce which is why the rest of the rules work in concert with social distancing to provide the safest experience we can.
  2. Keep your hands to yourself
    • This has always been a rule at our camps but now more than ever it is important for children to understand the importance of not touching others.
  3. Keep your hands away from your face
    • Being mindful of where your hands are and avoiding direct contact with the face can really help prevent the spread of Covid-19
  4. Stay home if you are ill
    • If your child is exhibiting symptoms it’s in everyone’s best interest to stay away. Even if you believe it to be a common cold we still cannot risk having that child at the camp. We’re all in this together!
  5. A mask is great (but it’s not required)
    • If you feel more comfortable with your child wearing a mask they are encouraged to do so. However; if you feel like it’s safe without a mask we are OK with that as well. Our goal is to prevent transmission via social distancing and screening participants.

Hand Hygiene

  • Our staff will wash their hands with soap and water (or use hand sanitizer when hand-washing station is unavailable) for 20 seconds at start of day and during every break.
  • Children will be instructed on how to properly wash their hands and will be directed to sanitize their hands at start of day and during each break.
  • Rec centres have provided hand washing stations but in the unlikely event that one has not been configured our staff are provided with hand sanitizer so there is no chance your child or our staff will be unable to practice proper hand hygiene.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

  • All equipment will be sanitized on site the first day and sanitized at end of day.
  • Any frequently touched common surface areas will be sanitized by recreation centre staff more frequently.
  • Any outside sports equipment brought in by campers will be sanitized before use within the camp area.

Covid-19 Illness Protocols

  • Staff members exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19 are required to stay home.
  • All caregivers will be asked whether their child is exhibiting symptoms when dropped off at camp. If they are found to be showing any they will not be able to attend camp.
  • If any child starts to exhibit symptoms during camp they will be provided with a mask to apply, be separated from the children, and their caregiver will be contacted to come and pick them up as soon as possible.
